James Tressel to address Akron Roundtable
"The Akron Experience — Success is a Journey" will be presented by James P. (Jim) Tressel at the next meeting of the Akron Roundtable at noon on Thursday, July 19, in the Quaker Station ballroom. The University of Akron is the sponsor.
It was just on May 1 that Tressel returned to his alma mater to serve in the newly created position of vice president of strategic engagement. In this role, he identifies, recommends and supports strategies and efforts that promote success in all facets of student life, including alumni and friend engagement, and collaborations and partnerships with community organizations that have an influence and impact on UA students and their futures.
Tressel, who grew up in Northeast Ohio, came to UA to earn a master's degree in education, which he did in 1977. He also served as assistant football coach and instructor of physical education from 1975 to 1978.
His experience in coaching continued through 2010 on the campuses of Miami University of Ohio, Syracuse University, Youngstown State University and The Ohio State University. Recently, he served as a consultant to the Indianapolis Colts. Tressel has published two books: "The Winners Manual: For the Game of Life" (2008) and "Life Promises for Success" (2011).
